Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Ponerian LLC (“Ponerian,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you access or use Mugdle. Mugdle is designed to collect very little information: it does not require an account, and your gameplay stays in your browser. This policy applies to the Mugdle site and the images delivered for its games.
Information stored on your device
Mugdle uses your browser’s localStorage to remember your guesses, completed games, streaks, and theme preference. This information is stored on your device and is not sent to Ponerian. It remains there until you clear your browser’s site data or your browser removes it.
You can play without providing your name, email address, or other account information. Names you enter as guesses are checked in your browser and are not sent to Ponerian.
Information processed when the site loads
Mugdle and its portrait files are delivered through Cloudflare. When your browser requests a page, puzzle, or image, Cloudflare and Ponerian may process ordinary request and security information, such as:
- your IP address and approximate region;
- browser, device, and operating-system information;
- the requested URL, referring page, and request time; and
- response, error, and security information associated with the request.
We use this information to deliver Mugdle, maintain reliability, prevent abuse, investigate errors or security incidents, and understand aggregate traffic. Cloudflare processes information under its own Privacy Policy.
Information you send us
If you email us, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, name, message, and attachments. We use it to respond, investigate corrections or rights concerns, keep appropriate records, and protect our legal rights.
Analytics, advertising, and cookies
Mugdle does not currently use third-party analytics, behavioral advertising, or advertising trackers. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Mugdle uses localStorage for the gameplay preferences described above, not advertising cookies. Cloudflare may use strictly necessary technologies to provide security and network services.
Sharing a result
When you choose to share a result, Mugdle asks your browser or device to open its share sheet or copies the result to your clipboard. The app or service you select may receive the result under its own privacy policy. Ponerian does not receive the destination you choose or a copy of the shared message.
When information may be disclosed
We may disclose information:
- to service providers, such as Cloudflare and providers that help us operate our email, subject to appropriate obligations;
- when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or enforceable government requests;
- to protect the rights, safety, and security of Mugdle, Ponerian, our users, or others; or
- as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.
Legal bases where required
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process technical request information as necessary for our legitimate interests in delivering, securing, maintaining, and improving Mugdle. We process communications to respond to your request, take steps you ask us to take, comply with legal obligations, and protect our legal rights.
Retention
Gameplay information stored in localStorage remains under your control as described above. We retain technical request and security information only for as long as reasonably necessary for operations, security, troubleshooting, and legal obligations. Service providers may retain it according to their documented settings and policies.
We retain communications for as long as needed to respond, maintain appropriate records, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. Retention periods vary with the nature of the request.
Your choices and privacy rights
You can delete locally stored gameplay information through your browser’s controls for clearing site data. You can also limit information you send us by choosing not to email us or use a sharing destination.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have a right to appeal a decision or complain to your local data-protection authority. We may need to verify a request before acting on it. Because Mugdle has no accounts and keeps gameplay on your device, we may not be able to connect technical request information to you.
International processing
Ponerian and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for transfers of personal information.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
Mugdle is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Mugdle or applicable requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date above.
